Maui, often referred to as “The Valley Isle,” is renowned for its stunning beaches, each offering unique experiences and breathtaking views. Here are some of the top beaches to visit in Maui:

1. Kaanapali Beach

Located on the west coast, Kaanapali Beach is a long stretch of golden sand, perfect for swimming, snorkeling (when there’s no swell or waves), and sunbathing. It’s also home to the famous Black Rock, a popular spot for cliff diving.
Kaanapali Beach, because it is a long beach, there’s no one particular parking spot.
You can find public parking when you see a blue colored post “Beach Access”

Here are some tip on parking: If you google Outrigger Beach Resort on the map, you will find on the right side of the entrance is a public parking. You may also use the Hotel’s garage if you intend to eat at Maui Brew Company (It’s a great restaurant specially during sunset time) and you can validate your parking ticket.
There are limited shade on the beach and depending on which time of the year, portable umbrellas are easily blown away. Make sure you use plenty of cover-ups.

2. Wailea Beach

Situated in the upscale Wailea resort area, this beach is known for its calm waters and luxurious surroundings. It’s ideal for families and those looking for a more relaxed beach experience.

3. Makena Beach (Big Beach)

Makena Beach, also known as Big Beach, is one of Maui’s largest and most picturesque beaches. With its expansive shoreline and clear waters, it’s perfect for swimming, bodyboarding, and simply enjoying the stunning scenery.

4. Napili Bay

Napili Bay offers a more tranquil beach experience, with its crescent-shaped shoreline and gentle waves. It’s a great spot for snorkeling, as the bay is home to a variety of marine life, including turtles and colorful fish.

5. Kapalua Bay

Known for its pristine waters and excellent snorkeling conditions, Kapalua Bay is a protected cove that offers a serene beach experience. The beach is also surrounded by lush vegetation and walking trails.

6. Baldwin Beach

Located on the north shore, Baldwin Beach is a local favorite with its long stretch of white sand and clear blue waters. It’s perfect for beachcombing, swimming, and picnicking, with facilities available for visitors.

7. Airport Beach

Underrated, Airport Beach has a lot of potential. Great for snorkeling (like really great that scuba divers bring their people here) and you can use the hotel restaurants to eat. This beach is great for families, great for events and all around.

8. Hamoa Beach

Located near the town of Hana, Hamoa Beach is a remote and beautiful beach known for its soft sand and turquoise waters. It’s a bit off the beaten path but worth the journey for its untouched beauty and tranquility.

9. Charley Young Beach

Part of Kamaole Beach Park, Charley Young Beach is a favorite among locals and tourists alike. It offers calm waters, making it ideal for swimming and snorkeling, along with stunning sunset views.

10. Slaughterhouse Beach

For a unique beach experience, visit Slaughterhouse Beach. I know it’s sounds scary but this is one of my favorite beach to go to with my daughters. The beach is very clean, the water is just perfect. Snorkeling is not the best but you will find resting turtles early morning and late afternoon. Parking is by the road. You’ll see a green stairs and you are in the right spot.
Since this beach is not monitored, please bring your rubbish back with you and give the turtles some extra space.

Conclusion

Maui’s beaches offer something for everyone, from luxurious resort areas to remote and serene coves. Whether you’re looking to surf, snorkel, or simply relax on the sand, Maui has a beach that will cater to your desires. Don’t forget to explore and enjoy the natural beauty that each beach has to offer!
